Paintball Arena would like to thank everyone who participated in our Grand Opening Bash! Special thanks to the event sponsors: ZAP PAINTBALL, DYE PRECISION, AIGUN DESIGNS / AUTOMAGS ONLINE, and IPS for donating a gigantic prize list. Scott Berlemont from ZAP came all the way from Canada to lend a hand! Jon Comprado and the AutoMags Online crew flew in from Illinois to set up an awesome vendor booth, giving away some great prizes in the Airgun Designs raffle.
On top of all this, Rocky Cagnoni from Warped Sportz and Team Avalanche rocked the Bash all weekend. Rocky is one of the best pro players in paintball, playing on one of the best pro teams in paintball. He chatted with and helped out players all weekend, and mixed it up with everybody in Saturday night's TOWER SIEGE. Rocky also provided invaluable assistance and insight to everyone with Angels. (Thanks for revitalizing my LED Angel, Rock! She's purring like a puppy... -Al) |

BASH KICK-OFF, OCTOBER 11 2002 The Bash got under way with the Xtreme Kick-Off games Friday night. The full L shaped play area was used as players shot it out from tower and camo-bunker defenses, into the no-man's-land of airball bunkers, and pushing into the opposing team's defenses. |
3 MAN TOURNAMENT, OCTOBER 12, 2002 Team gathered bright and early for Saturday's 3 man tournament: the first tournament held at Paintball Arena. 21 B-Division teams were divided into two brackets due to the high turnout, and 9 A-Division teams brought the count up to 30 teams total. Teams were scheduled for 8, 9, or 10 prelim games, with a time limit of 4 minutes and a center-flag game format. A few no-shows meant every team had 1 or two "by games."

TOWER SIEGE Saturday night, players got the chance to shoot with or at Rocky in some great attack-defend format games. The entire combined field was in play: Defenders could work a series of connected camo bunkers punctuated by the Towers, play from more forward defensive positions, or could work the angles from the archways. Defenders were not allowed past the archways into the Ultimate Air bunkers. Attackers, meanwhile, had to push their way through the Ultimate air course, position themselves to push through the archways, and finally attack the main defenses and pull the defending team's flag. |
RICKY MARTIN'S IRON MEN: FIRST PLACE, A |
By pushing the right tape to the corner, then up from there, attackers were usually victorious if they got enough cover from their left and center. But pulling that flag was never an easy task! |
GLADIATOR GAMES The final event of the Paintball Arena Grand Opening Bash was the 1 on 1 Gladiator Games. Players faced off in a two minute game, earning 100 points for tagging their opponent. Each gladiator played his rivals twice, and the total points were added at the end. no finals were played, but there was need for a few tie-breaker games.
